Parents,

It’s hard to believe that only six weeks remain in the first semester of the 2026 school year!  Thank you for trusting us with your children and for working to ensure your children are at school everyday, prepared to learn. We’ve had a great first 13 weeks of the year and are excited to share some of our student’s accomplishments and provide a few reminders about what is coming up.

The Arkansas Department of Education recently updated the state’s A-F school accountability letter grade system and released grades for all 254 Arkansas school districts. The state’s system is aligned to student achievement and growth and readiness–priorities designed to ensure every student is prepared for what comes next. Quitman School District has earned a grade of ‘B’ under this system and achieved a score of 494.37; the state median score is 451.7. Quitman is one of 98 school districts out of 254 to receive this ‘B’ rating; we continue to rank among the top 40% of districts in Arkansas! Over 50% of our students in grades 3-10 met growth targets in ELA, science and math. While most of our students perform well above the state average, we will continue to strive for 100% of our students to meet or exceed their learning targets. For more detailed information about our student’s performance, visit myschoolinfo.arkansas.gov.

Thanks to our committed teachers, Quitman High School now offers more on-campus concurrent credit courses than ever before. These opportunities to earn college credit and achieve merit and distinction designations through our many career and technical programs ensure our high school students graduate fully prepared for college and career. Students can now earn college credit through our state-renowned building trades program, and we’ll be adding concurrent offerings in agriculture and biology in the months to come!

Quitman students continue to achieve at high levels in athletics and extracurricular activities. Our girls cross country team just earned a 7th consecutive 2A State Championship, our marching band earned the school’s first-ever 3A State Runner-Up Championship, and our football team has earned a 3A State Playoff bid for the 8th consecutive year. Quitman FFA is the reigning Arkansas Agriculture Program of the Year, and dozens of members earned high marks and awards at this year’s local, district, and state competitions. We have a record number of third through sixth grade students participating in pee wee basketball and are very grateful to our parents who’ve volunteered to coach our 11 pee wee teams. Due to our student growth, the Arkansas Activities Association has assigned Quitman to compete in the 3A Classification for all sports beginning with the 2026/2027 school year.

We are very grateful for the support of our entire Bulldog Family! Our Bulldog PAC’s annual Fall Festival raised over $20,000 to purchase school supplies for all students. The Athletic Booster Club has received a record $60,000 in donations to provide meals for our band and athletes in addition to purchasing state championship rings and pictures for our teams.

Finally, we’re only two weeks from Thanksgiving Break, and it’s a very busy time for everyone.  Here are just a few of the important events coming up:

  • We will honor our Veterans at an assembly on Tuesday, November 11.

  • Our cafeteria staff is working to prepare for the annual Thanksgiving Lunch November 20 and 21 for kindergarten through sixth grade students and families.

  • Basketball season begins this week.

  • Our football team plays at Booneville Friday night in the first round of 3A State Playoffs.

  • On Friday, we will celebrate our most recent champions and all state athletes in golf, volleyball, cross country, and band at a school-wide assembly.

  • Pee Wee basketball practice is underway; games begin the first week of December.
