Professional Learning Community Model School

Bulldog Family,

We couldn’t be more thrilled to announce that our Professional Learning Community Model School District and our Highly Effective Schools Accreditations have been renewed for another three year cycle!

These accreditation’s reflect years of hard work and dedication from our staff, students and many members of our Bulldog Family! Our district is one of fewer than 500 in the United States to receive these honors and remains the only District in Arkansas to have an entire school district with these accreditations.

Students and teachers in the schools where these accreditations are earned, show “a sustained commitment to helping all students achieve at high levels. These schools have been willing to alter the structure and culture of the school to reflect this commitment. They have a 1) Focus on learning, 2) Strive to build a collaborative culture, and 3) Focus on getting results.” For more information about these accreditations: allthingsplc.info and solutiontree.com

Congratulations to our school and community and thank you to our Bulldog Family for collaborating with us to make our school and community the best it can be. It’s a great time to be a Bulldog!

Quitman Public Schools: A Journey of Transformation

Quitman Public Schools (QPS) has a long history of dedication to its students and community. However, for many years, despite the hard work of staff, efforts weren't always focused on the most impactful areas.

Through a process called PLC at Work®, QPS has undergone a significant transformation. This collaborative approach has led to a laser focus on student learning and a culture of continuous improvement.

Key improvements at QPS:

  • Developed a shared mission: Stakeholders worked together to create a mission statement that guides all aspects of the school.
  • Established collective commitments: Teachers identified specific behaviors that exemplify the mission statement in action. These commitments are reviewed and celebrated regularly.
  • Implemented focused team meetings: Teams now meet regularly to discuss what students need to learn, how to assess their learning, and how to provide targeted support.
  • Data-driven instruction: Teams use data to set SMART goals and track student progress.
  • Collaboration and shared learning: Teachers share instructional strategies, model lessons for each other, and participate in learning walks.

The results speak for themselves:

  • Student achievement has increased significantly, with reading scores showing improvement.
  • QPS is a model PLC at Work® district, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement and student success.

Imperfect but always improving:

The road to success isn't always smooth, but QPS embraces a growth mindset. They learn from mistakes and continually strive to be better for their students.
